Boy it’s about to get HOT!!!
Hello,
With the upcoming forecast of high heat moving through Indiana, I thought we should share some tips to stay cool. And some do’s and don’ts with this heat wave.
Working on the home? Some things may cause more harm than good with this heat!
1. Do not work or walk on roof when its hot out. If you are doing a repair and need to be on your roof, WAIT!!! Don’t get up there when its hot. It will scar your shingles and cause them to wear prematurely.
2. Water your lawn if we go without rain for an extended time. But, do it when its cool. Watering the lawn when its very hot wont help the grass and will more than likely just waste water. Plus you need to water for longer than 20 min. or so. They say an inch a day for a healthy lawn.
3. You can work on the home when its this hot, but use caution.
4.Ok, now for you…Please take caution when playing out in the heat or working outside. Stay hydrated with water.. If you feel any change in yourself get indoors and keep on eye on how your feeling. Heat strokes can make you faint, sick and even worse. So please be careful!!
Spend some time at your local pool, or even invite yourself to your neighbors pool…lol Have fun, stay cool and please be careful out there!

Summer is here!!! This is the time…the time for what you ask?
We here at Maple Road Construction, Inc would like to thank our customers..past and present! We are always looking for new clients to work with…Are you prepared for next winter? I know, you asking “why should i?” lol…
Well, this is the perfect time to do those exterior projects…Whether its a new roof, siding, gutters, windows, doors & caulking…
Caulking is the most neglected..All the others above last a whole lot longer..Make sure you look at all your windows and doors, trim and any area where cold air could enter your home…Caulking helps cut energy bills when its done correctly. I say correctly because we see alot of caulking that was done incorrectly or the wrong type was used..So remember, silicone is for non painted areas, latex is for painting.
We will be glad to help in any way with any projects you may be thinking of. Please feel free to contact us to price your next project or idea! No job is to big or small!

Have You Had Your Home Tested For Radon??
We at Maple Road Construction, Inc. wanted to take the time for a little education. Radon is something not to many people are familiar with. Or they have been told things about radon that may not be true. So after watching a program on it, i wanted to share this information with you. Knowing that Indiana is a hot spot, testing is easy and it could save your lives. Next to smoking, according to the EPA, Radon in the home is the next leading cause.
Here is a video explaining all you need to know..If you are still unsure on how to get your home tested. Please give us a call!
*Update To The 611 E. 30th Project
Hello,
So here is an update on the 611. E 30th Street. We are not only adding new siding, windows and door but we are also adding a small room addition. As we were getting into it, we discovered a cistern in the area where we needed to dig. A cistern is s a waterproof receptacle for holding liquids, usually water. Often cisterns are built to catch and store rainwater. So before we can add a room addition we must fill the cistern with the appropriate substance. Now that that is complete, we will start on the foundation. Please feel free to drive by and take a look!
Here are some updated photos…Thanks for stopping by!
Are you feeling cold in your home? Paying high energy bills? We have a solution!
Have you heard of infrared energy scans?
Infrared Thermography is a proven diagnostic technique recommended by the US Department of Energy for identifying areas of heat loss. Considering your heating and cooling load can be up to 50% of your actual energy bill, a thermal scan of your home can identify where those wasted dollars are going-no matter what type of heating or cooling system you have. An EnergyScanIR™ Survey of your home is just plain smart and you can play your part in the Green Movement. Your reduced utility consumption will reduce greenhouse gas emissions as well.
Indy Infrared is a local company providing this service. The company is owned and operated by Joe Wallace, who is also owner/partner of Maple Road Construction, inc. This service is provided by Indy-Infrared. But of course we at Maple Road support this service and it as helped having a Thermographer when doing our remodeling. We get a look at hidden areas that may need insulation and or sealing.
Please check out the UnitedInfrared EnergyIR video for more information. Joe Wallace is a member and was trained by United Infrared.

Maple Road In The “Indianapolis Star News”
Joe Wallace was in the “Ask The Remodelor” section of the Indianapolis Star on Sunday. In this article Joe was asked about adding a 2nd story. Here are a few key points of the article.
1.Choose three remodeling contractors and interview
2. Not all contractors have 2nd story addition experience
3. Make sure you are confortable with the contractor you choose
